Adisil is an ancient Tamil classical word that is unused at present. Adisil means "Cooked Rice" or "Cooked Food". I am not a food blogger but a foodie interested in preparing food and serving people. I was forced to start this blog to share the recipes for 'Release Biryani' & 'Goat liver fry'. Many of my friends love those. Big thanks to my wife (Ph.D scholar in Tamil Literature), who gave this blog the unique title 'Adisil' (picked from a poem from Sangam days).

In Sangam Period, Biryani was referred as 'Oon Thuvai Adisil'

'Oon Thuvai Adisil' - "Oon" refers to meat, "thuvai" is a blend, and "Adisil" is a cooked meal.

The word 'biryani' came into usage at a later date. They mention that when the Timur came to India in 1398, the food of Biryani came to India. But Biryani food was eaten by Tamils and others during the Sangam period.

Goat liver fry is our favorite food from our childhood days. In our family, this is how goat meats are introduced to our kids(First Bite). We used to get liver fries on Sundays, and this recipe is from my Mom.
